Bond from Spiritual to Physical
Mythology and Religion are acquainted with one another fairly well, however we
do not call them the same thing even though most of the concepts and ideas stay the
same. While myths do share common concepts that are in many religious texts today,
do the texts come from the myths, or were they created in a separate form in order to
feel more detached from their close relatives. Focusing on the bible, as christianity is
prominent in our daily world today, most of the teachings and god like figures lean
towards the same central emotion that mythology stems from, fear.
Within the world and society we live in, we see religion as an outlet for a
numerous amount of problems. Racism is one of many fears that society has placed
within itself, the fear of difference and the fear of inequality. In both mythology in religion
these same fears are opened up by more subtle hints without the same magnitude seen
from human beings. While religion places more emphasis on these fears, mythology
has more gruesome fears and not as oriented towards people against each other. While
being different, the same fears occur from culture to culture, religion to religion, and
myth to myth. What we see as a society though is not what the fears are, but only how
to brave against them.
With Christianity, the idea of an almighty or powerful god being able to protect
someone, is the same if not exactly the same as the idea of a god or goddesses
watching over someone. They guard society from our fears and what it thinks it cannot
handle as mere human beings. Without the fears, there would be no need for someone
to “thank god” after they thought something was finally relieved from them. The main
reason for the creation of religion was based off of the conception that with worship and
praise to a higher power, anything can be accomplished or achieved. We as humans,
assume that without anyone guarding, protecting, or watching over us, then we are
meek and unable to defend ourselves, however in mythology and religion, we gain a
way to think of how nothing is unknown.
Another fear that influences our society is the fear of the unknown. In both
Mythology and religion, the unknown come up in occurences of the supernatural, magic,
or myths. We as humans fear what we cannot explain and therefore we need a way to
get past that fear. The fighter of this fear was named as religion/mythology, in which we
can just take a spiritual being that we are not able to use our senses to determine, and
say that it’s the reason something random had occured. While not everything in religion
and mythology is like that, mythology gets its ideas from people who have claimed to
see something or felt something, however being unable to determine it, the fear strikes
us and we just give in to the hope of relief that is religion/mythology.
The creation of mythology off of fear tied into religion and its traditions were
passed down, from worship, to gods, even to creators of the universe. Even while there
are many implicit differences within mythology and religion, they share a common goal
and concept. Both of them were created by fear in order to eradicate it, but may be
destroyed by the ones who created it, just as the both started the same, they will end
the same.

End-notes:
Argumentative and opinionated readings are some of my favorite too. While looking through the perspective of 2 different people, you can see a middle basis of understanding and sameness is met in between. I find that when I write or read articles or stories like this, it makes my brain think more and helps me pick up on someone else's way of thinking.
